Our Music Director/Organist: Al Reese, an accomplished musician, leads music programs at St. Paul's, including the chancel choir and Saint Paul's Ringing Ensemble (bell choir). Since Al's arrival at St. Paul's in 2008, he and his wife, Lois, have produced two musicals starring children from the church and greater Suffolk community.

Al currently serves as the Musical Director of the Virginia Handbell Consort and studies voice with Sondra Gelb of Virginia Beach. He takes part in Virginia Opera productions on occasion and has performed with a number of operas and choruses prior to his arrival at St. Paul's. Al played trumpet for 21 years in the Army Band program, including eight years with the band at Fort Monroe. Al was also stationed at the US Military Academy at West Point.

Al holds a Master of Church Music Degree, with a concentration in Handbells from Concordia University (WI), and is pursuing a Master of Music, in Music Theory/Composition, from Norfolk State University. While Al possesses an impressive, diverse, and ever-expanding resume, his witty puns and encouraging spirit are ever-present during choir and bell rehearsals. He is a willing coach who wishes to add to the ranks of St. Paul's choristers and musicians. Al resides in Norfolk with his wife, Lois and their dog, Abby.
